Law 12 will help students deal with legal, social and ethical issues and address the role of law in Canadian Society. Students will learn about their legal rights and responsibilities. This course consists of four modules: Fundamentals of Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law and Family Law.
Law 12 is essentially a survey course and introduces students to the rights and duties which form the substantive law, as well as examining some of the procedural aspects of the law. Students will learn about the judiciary and our court system. They will be introduced to some of Canada’s foundational laws such as the Constitution Act, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the Criminal Code. It is expected that students will examine current online case law as expressed by the Supreme Court of Canada. Students will complete assignments online, write 4 tests, and they will prepare several major papers.

- Criminal Law
- Civil Law (focusing on Tort Law and Law of Contracts)
- Family Law
