Social Studies 11
History 12 topics no longer include the events of World War 1 (a SS11 topic), but will begin with the results of the war, and move forward through the 20th Century. This course focuses on the world powers, major individuals and events that have significantly influenced the 20th Century, including but not limited to the Russian Revolution, the growth of fascist governments in the 1920s, the great Depression, the failure of the League of Nations and the move towards war in the 1930s, the second World War, and many Cold War events as well.
Students taking this course should have strong reading, writing and research skills. As well, students electing to take History 12 should have completed Social Studies 11. There is no longer a provincial exam requirement.
