Orange Shirt Day

September 28, 2018

EBUS Academy invites you to recognize Orange Shirt Day with us on Friday September 28th.

Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, schools, government and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation.

Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in the spring of 2013. It grew out of Phyllis’ story of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.

EBUS students are encouraged to send in a picture in their orange shirts to their teacher.

Students are invited to join us in a v-class reading of the book The Orange Shirt Story on Friday September 28th at 11:00 am. Please join the v-class Friday by clicking on the link: https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/878104845

For more information, please see the Orange Shirt Day Flyer or contact Nikki Arnold at narnold@sd91.bc.ca
