In Piano 11, learners will continue their study of music and the piano.

Learners start to build an intermediate understanding of music and the instrument.  Scales, chords and rhythm are analyzed, and material that is more challenging is learned.

We will also look at the role of the piano in different genres and talk about how to use music theory to be creative.

Piano 12 offers learners a more developed piano and music experience.

Advanced scales, chords and rhythms are discussed as well as their role in music and what musical genres make use of this theory.

Advanced songs and techniques are studied, and the learners will have to tools to analyze music critically as well as exploit their creativity.

Do you love exploring and creating digital artwork? Are you interested in developing and refining your skills as an artist? Students will learn about and apply the steps required to take an idea, and see it through to completion.

Also, students will learn the basics of 3D animation with Autodesk Maya (supplied by EBUS) allowing students to give lifelike movements to a character.

Do you have a passion for digital animation and illustration?

Students will refine and extend their illustration skills while focused on drawing foundations, facial features, and human anatomy.

The basics of colouring and the principles of perspective also feature in this course.

The use of MAYA software (supplied by EBUS) will also feature, where students will use the tools and techniques required to create 3D environments and objects

Do you love to create characters, in 2D or 3D?  In this course, students will refine and expand their illustration skills specifically, human anatomy, and gestures.

Character rigging, the way a character moves, is the primary focus of this course.

In addition, students will polish their rigging skills and techniques by constructing a character with moving limbs, and face using Autodesk Maya (supplied by EBUS.)

This course cannot be used toward Adult Graduation Credits

This course focuses on the basics of photography.

Students will learn to use their camera or Smartphone, experiment with settings in a range of environments while completing engaging projects.

The essential design elements, as well as composition techniques, feature throughout the course.

Required Materials:

  • Smartphone, Point and Shoot Camera or DSLR
  • Tripod

Photography 12 is an engaging and comprehensive course aligned with the British Columbia curriculum, designed to foster advanced skills and critical thinking in the field of digital photography.

This Grade 12 course builds upon the foundational knowledge emphasizing creativity, technical proficiency, and a deeper understanding of the photographic medium.

Required Materials:

  •  DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex Camera)
  • Tripod

Studio Arts 2D 11 is an intermediate-level course designed to further develop learners’ skills and understanding in two-dimensional visual arts.

Building upon the foundations laid in Studio Arts 10, this course explores a range of 2D art forms, techniques, and concepts. Learners will engage in hands-on artistic exploration, critical thinking, and reflection to deepen their appreciation for visual arts and refine their personal artistic voice.
