This course teaches student the process of using critical and creative thinking skills when designing to meet specifications. It is a project course, which allows students to receive credit for both ADST 9 and General Fine Arts 9. Starting with a guided project, students work through stages of design and develop their final Careers 9 project. In the second part of the course- the breadth section – The Breadth part of the course includes design scenarios from a range of topic areas such as foods, textiles, marketing, music, drama, art. Students use the design process that they learned in the Guided Project to complete their chosen design scenarios. Most of these projects are linked to learning outcomes for the CORE Grade 9 subjects as well. With consultation with their teacher, Students also have the option to earn tech certificates – Jasper Active training in using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Food Safe Level 1, Coding, Typing.
BCA 11 is designed to be an introductory computer course. It is assumed that the student has a few basic skills, but primarily introduces word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software. The course is divided into 7 lessons and 7 projects with approximately 5 assignments each. The course brings the student along slowly building skills as they work through each assignment. Course is online, no text required.
This course cannot be used toward Adult Graduation credits.
This course provides students with the opportunity to explore and gain valuable desktop computing skills using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote and SharePoint. Students will create their own unique pathway and may not cover all of the products listed.
