BC’s New Curriculum

The Ministry of Education has implemented new curriculum for grades K-12.  The curriculum will ensure students learn the basics like reading, writing and numeracy in a way that connects them to important competencies required for school and life beyond. The new curriculum focuses not only on content but also on the development of core competencies in three main areas: communication, thinking and personal & social.

New curriculum for grades K-10 is fully implemented, and Grade 11/12 curriculum will be phased in by the 2019/20 school year.

The entire K-12 curriculum will continue to be presented by subject areas and grade levels, ensuring consistent province-wide standards for all BC students.

You can find more information about BC’s new curriculum on the Ministry of Education website.
