Hi everyone, the end of the school year is nearly here! Lots to celebrate with our full-time families for the past year, thank you for choosing EBUS. This is the final newsletter for this school year. For students returning next year, we will have a newsletter going out the week of August 30th for the start of the new school year.
SUMMER SESSION 2021
EBUS is running summer session in 2021! Registration is open and all the details can be found here https://ebus.ca/summer-ebus-2021/ including the list of courses we will be offering. Only a handful of courses remain, do not delay if you plan to take something this summer. Be sure to carefully read the requirements and expectations of summer session as they are different that previous years. Be aware we cannot move a current active course on the student dashboards to summer session due to funding policies with the Ministry. I recommend students only take 1 summer course as they must finish the course in 2.5 months, and any students not finished by the deadlines in September will be withdrawn and must retake the entire course.
ACCESSING CURRENT COURSES OVER THE SUMMER BREAK
Good news, you will be able to login to your current regular school year courses throughout the summer. Unfortunately, it will be very quiet in there because teachers will be on summer break so no marking will happen, no setting up exams and no answering emails or moodle messages. Your on-line teachers may be able to help you to access some assignments if you communicate with them prior to July.
EBUS is offering students the opportunity to request access to teacher supports in their regular school year courses in July and August. Only full time EBUS students should fill out this form. Priority for summer support will be given to grade 12 students and those students working to complete graduation requirements by September.
To be a good candidate, you will need to be more than 60% complete in the course, have adequate time in the summer, have a clear, detailed plan of when you are going to be working on the assignments with parent support for this, and understand this course work is a high priority for you.
Students approved by EBUS Admin will be assigned a teacher who will mark, arrange for test supervision and help troubleshoot throughout July and August. Your assigned teacher may not be a subject specialist.
For those not qualifying or not approved for summer support please communicate with your EBUS teacher ASAP to see what assignments / activities you may be able to access independently throughout the summer, understanding that no marking or support will be available.
Deadline to apply for summer support is Thursday June 24.
COURSE SELECTIONS FOR THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR
Great to see so many students putting in their course selections for next fall. I will be going through them next week approving ones received. For those still needing to submit their requests there is time before the June 28th deadline, find all the details at https://ebus.ca/2021-2022-course-selections/
For students considering leaving EBUS for the next school year, I recommend you contact the new school you are considering so you can take care of course selections very soon. If you plan to leave EBUS at the end of June, please be sure to send you advisor a heads up so we can transfer your file. If you are staying with EBUS, all you need to do is course selections before June 28.
An email was sent to all full time EBUS students in grade 10, 11 and 12 May 25 2021 with detailed instructions on how to do your course selections in MyEd before June 28. Be sure to check your junk/spam mail folders for the email from email@example.com. If you did not get an email, please contact the EBUS Help Desk at EBUSHelpDesk@sd91.bc.ca
As our final installation of the What About? the question for our graduating students is how do I actually graduate?
Once you have finished all of your courses and the required graduation assessments, it will take up to 10 school days to get your marks sent to the Ministry of Education to add to your transcript. It is the student’s responsibility to check their transcripts regularly on the student secure website to ensure there are no mistakes or errors. Instructions on how to check your transcript are in the homeroom and all high school students should do this regularly.
Once eligible to graduate in June, the Ministry will produce your transcript and diploma and mail them to EBUS and we will mail them to you. You can imagine at this time in the school year it is extremely busy there, so expect your official Transcript and Diploma to be mailed to you by mid-October. You will be graduated well before then, but the record will take some time to arrive in your hands.
If you are going to college or university, as soon as your courses show up on your transcript they are available to your chosen schools for your application.

Parents, you can access your student’s progress and report cards on the EBUS parent portal: https://my.ebus.ca/parentportal/login.php We recommend parents log in with their student at least once a week to stay actively engaged in their learning and progress. Report cards are published 5 times a year; November, January, March, June and for summer session courses only, September.
As COVID related changes were announced by the Province, I transitioned to working from home. To book a phone appt with me, use https://tinyurl.com/yyrbnz7p and select the appropriate amount of time you need when you are available for my call. My calls will show as “no caller ID” but I will call at the time you request.
As I have number of year end projects that must be finished by June 29th when I leave for summer holidays, I recommend booking your appt no later than June 24th to ensure I will be available.
